After a successful recovery of the NOAA-sponsored NEMO (Northwest Enhanced Moored Observatory) ChaBa surface buoy and a nearby subsurface profiling mooring (NEMO Subsurface), we'll be working over the winter to improve the real-time capability, power consumption, and durability of both moorings, re-deploying in the spring. These moorings are state-of-the-art, taking advantage of various new technologies including no-cost VHF data transfer and new instrumentation developed by Wetlabs, SeaBird, Satlantic and SAMI. Moorings are designed to deliver data back to shore in near real-time, with public access to data provided by NVS. |
